GRAPHITECH
Presentation
GRAPHITECH is a joint venture between EDF and Veolia that develops and offers innovative industrial solutions for the decommissioning of nuclear plants based on graphite technology.
The Company provides reactor dismantling scenarios and engineering (feasibility, optioneering, detailed design, specifications); designs, manufactures and qualifies tools deployment system and remotely operated dismantling solutions; conducts development, testing and training in EDF demonstrator near Chinon; develops digital methods allowing implementation of dismantling tools in reactors environment.
GRAPHITECH’s first objective will be to provide EDF with an optimized scenario for decommissioning the Chinon A2 reactor in 2028, including the development and qualification phase using full-scale models to prepare the remote-operation tools to be used in decommissioning the Chinon reactor.
Role in the Project
GRAPHITECH will ensure the scientific coordination of the project.
GRAPHITECH will take part in most of the tasks of the project. Graphitech will, in particular, lead the design and testing program of a representative mock up of the graphite stack to be operational for tests as well as the design of a deployment system for graphite retrieval tools.
GRAPHITECH will carry out the modelling and experimental activities and will hence ensure the transition between the developments done or specified during INNO4GRAPH project and the testing phase in the demonstrator (compatibility of mock-ups with the needs of the different reactors, building of relevant testing programmes, etc.).
