Cyclife Digital Solutions (Cyclife DS), a subsidiary of the EDF Group, works with the UK, Germany and China assisting different companies in digital transition, developing specific software applications and providing engineering studies services in the nuclear field (Decommissioning and dismantling (D&D) scenario development and optimisation, detailed cost estimate, value analysis, WBS, etc), as well as education and training services.
The main solution provided and developed by the company is DEMplus® for nuclear, a software built to answer D&D and waste management project issues.
Role in the Project
The main role of Cyclife DS in INNO4GRAPH is to provide its main product DEMplus® for nuclear, a 3D simulation of dismantling scenarios. A new module will be integrated to DEMplus® in order to better answer the needs for graphite reactors decommissioning operations. This module will allow to simulate, with a more realistic approach, the retrieval of graphite bricks and adding the friction produced while retrieving the bricks form the stack.
Cyclife DS will participate in the study of an interface between the physical test of tools to be made in the demonstrator and their 3D simulation through the application of DEMplus® for nuclear in different use cases.
Cyclife DS will also gather all 3D models provided by the use cases owners, as well as other inputs (physical and radiological inventories, kinematic properties, etc) and use them as an input of DEMplus®. Different scenarios will be tested using the software, the simulation of the retrieval of bricks for each use case, and the comparison of different strategies by testing different tools. Once all simulations will be completed, the outputs (costs, collective dose, waste generated and time) will be compared and optimisations will be suggested (the data costs obtained will be complementary to those obtained from the CIRTEN-POLIMI’s tools).
The high performance and experience of our team in the nuclear field will allow graphite reactors actors to improve and optimise not only scenarios but also provide good training to their workers, reducing risks associated and focusing on graphite issues.
