Martina Mazzi (https://www.linkedin.com/in/martina-mazzi-199602170/) from Politecnico di Milano, partner of the EU funded H2020 INNO4GRAPH Project made a presentation at ICHEAP16. The 16th International Conference on chemical and process engineering took place this year on 21-24 May 2023 in Naples, Italy. Martina presented the “Characterization of removable coatings for graphite-moderated nuclear reactors decommissioning“!
In this study the behavior and characteristics of two removable coatings to be deposited on a nuclear grade graphite substrate were analyzed, with the aim to evaluate their possible application on graphite bricks during dismantling operations of graphite-moderated nuclear reactors.
The preliminary experimental campaign showed amongst other results that coating painting could be a feasible option to prevent the spread of highly contaminated graphite dusts during decommissioning of graphite components of nuclear reactors, thus ensuring clean and safe working conditions.
The full set of final selected papers will be published into Chemical Engineering Transactions Journal, indexed by SCOPUS and SCHOLAR.
